Quick Start to Coaching Adult Learners

By taking this course, you’ll gain insights about the important role of mentoring adult learners. Whether you’re working with a student teacher, a new colleague, or a school leader who supports ongoing professional development for teachers, the strategies in this brief learning experience will sharpen your mentoring skills. Even if you have previous experience in this kind of role, you’ll get to reflect and refine your skills to gain confidence and make your work even more effective!
SPECIAL NOTE: This course is designed to address the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board standards 3.B.1.C and 3.G.2 which require cooperating teachers and university supervisors to “complete professional development in coaching strategies for adult learners.” It includes approximately 60 minutes of self-paced learning activities including reading, video-based instruction, reflection prompts, and implementation tips; no deliverable assignments are required to earn completion credit. It also serves as a preview to a more comprehensive coaching course offered by The Catalyst Approach that includes more than 50 hours of instruction, classroom observations in a variety of school settings, and observing and practicing feedback delivery in a gradual release model, all under the guidance and support of The Catalyst Approach team.
